January 1, 2016. Happy New Year!
Wow. Another year come and gone. However this New Year, for the first time in a long time, I did not dread it. I actually welcomed it with open arms and a renewed sense of purpose.
I don't like to make resolutions, since for the most part by the end of March the majority of them have already been broken. Then you're left with nine more months of feeling like you let yourself down, yet again. What I have done differently this year is to take a tip from a friend. She does a "word of the year" and then tries to apply that word to every aspect of her daily life.
My word of the year shall be "renewed". This word is powerful. It holds the promise of starting over. Rebuilding yourself into a stronger and better version of you. Hitting the reset button on life.
Renewed friendships. May we all find it within ourselves to realize that we need each other to lift us up and shelter each other from life's storms.
Renewed determination. To be a more compassionate, less judgemental, and more understanding person.
Renewed faith in humanity. To watch the news and look past the ugliness in the world. To look for the good that people are doing everyday, in every way, within our community and around the world.
Renewed hope that my fellow adoptee and foster brothers and sisters will each find the answers they need in order to live the fulfilling and enriched lives they all deserve.
Happy New Year my friends. May you all find your own renewed sense of purpose this year. You're all a treasured blessing.
Peace, blessings, and namaste.
